The most memorable time was of her making this colorful dessert was actually without me! I’ve always enjoyed telling this story of her, I was excited to dig into the marshmallow coconut fluff, but my taste buds thought otherwise, I could only taste onion! How did this happen? To my surprise there sits chive & onion sour cream in the ice box. Grandma hadn’t taste tested yet, boy was she in for an onion surprise! She didn’t even know there were other flavors, she just saw the Philadelphia label and tossed it in with other ingredients. All we could do was laugh endlessly about this. We had a lot of memories like that in the kitchen. Brings a smile to my face to reminisce on her memory.
I’m so excited to have my friend Jennifer share today on Recipes & Traditions! Jennifer and I met through a mutual friend, and we clicked from our love of cooking to Groundhog Day (yes, I said Groundhog Day.) I was so honored when she said she would be willing to do this and I could not love this recipe or memory more that she chose to share with us! I know this will bring a smile to your face and will cure your sweet tooth with one of the best old fashioned salad recipes ever!
I was raised by my Grandma, having so many memories of her recipes has always felt like an honor. One of the most simplest & delicious desserts we loved…Ambrosia Salad also known as 5 cup salad. We made this for all occasions.
